Health sector in Pakistan has been struggling for many years. Health delivery system is run by both state and non-state authorities. People living in urban areas have an easy access to best healthcare facilities whereas, in rural areas, and even in slum areas in big cities accessibility to proper medical services is difficult. People either live far away from the clinics/hospitals or they don’t have any such institutes in their areas. Pakistan’s population is around 185 million out of which more than 70 million people are living below the poverty line i.e. earning less than $2 a day. With the income of merely 5000 to 6000 rupees a month, they have to pay for the food, bills, transport and also for the fees if their children are studying. On top of that, if any of the family members gets sick, they are left with less or no money to treat them.

Happy Health Helpers

As a part of Happy Health Helpers club our aim is to provide basic medical facilities to needy and low privileged people in their own hometown. There is a need to do major efforts to improve the healthcare system in our country. The solution is bringing capable physicians, health awareness and swift access to medical care. In this way we can help to curtail the increasing burden on hospitals and also people get immediate medical advice and free medicine. The concept of this organization basically comes from Edhi foundation and Khidmat organization which are playing their roles in helping poor people.

Anticipated Challenges:

The basic challenge we realize is the arrangement of doctor. During Covid-19 days it is very difficult to convince doctor. Another challenge is the arrangements of donations and medicine. Having an experience of asking for funds during our Funds Collection Activity for Edhi Foundation, we realize that people usually hesitate when they are asked for donations. Issue in which we are anticipating a lot is how to convince people. People have trust issues and many people do not take it seriously.

Solutions of problems:

We are trying to convince as many doctors as we can. We will try to find out those doctors which are already involve in such types of medical camps and have pain for humanity. For trust issues, we will contact with influential persons of that area and these will convince their own community. Campaign through social media and flexes will be helpful in getting donations and convincing the patients.

In the coming weeks we are planning to arrange our first medical camp in one of the underprivileged area in Lahore. We are making pages on every social media handle so that we can get maximum output. With help of some NGO’s and personal contribution the arrangement of camp is easy task so we will try to reach out to maximum people for donations.

This project is very close to our hearts. It is the way we can play our part in improvement of society and to make our country Pakistan a wonderful place to live.
